A rehab treadmill is specified by what the therapist needs around it, not by the motor: harness mounting points, a belt that starts at near-zero speed without a jolt, reverse belt direction, and a deck low enough for assisted transfer. KREEDA builds walking and rehab treadmill platforms for clinics, rehab centres and senior living therapy rooms, with OEM and private-label options from our Ningbo plant.
What is different about a rehab treadmill versus a home treadmill?
Home treadmills are designed for one user who can mount, start and stop unaided. Clinical use breaks every one of those assumptions:
| Requirement | Why clinical use needs it | What to ask the supplier |
|---|---|---|
| Harness or overhead support compatibility | Partial weight-bearing gait training needs a frame the harness can attach to | Whether the frame has rated mounting points, and the safe working load |
| Near-zero starting speed | A belt that starts at walking speed is a fall risk for a transfer patient | The minimum speed the belt reaches smoothly, and the acceleration ramp |
| Reverse belt direction | Backward walking is a standard gait-training progression | Whether reverse is a standard function or an option |
| Low deck height | Assisted and seated transfers are easier and safer | Floor-to-belt dimension |
| Full-length handrails | Therapist stands beside the patient and needs clear access | Rail position relative to the therapist’s standing zone |
| Emergency stop at reach | The therapist, not the patient, must be able to stop the belt | Number and position of stop devices |
| Duty cycle | Clinic use is repeated short sessions, not one long run | Rated duty cycle and motor thermal behaviour |
| Service documentation | Facilities need a maintenance and parts trail | Parts list, wear items, and service interval |
Which specifications should a clinic write into the tender?
Write the requirements around the therapy protocol rather than around a model number. A workable specification list:
- Minimum belt speed and the acceleration profile from standstill
- Belt width and usable walking length
- Rated user weight, and the safety factor applied to it
- Handrail configuration, including whether the therapist needs unobstructed side access
- Harness mounting provision, if partial weight support is in scope
- Reverse belt function
- Emergency stop count and placement
- Duty cycle for the intended session schedule
- Electrical requirement at the site
- Documentation: manual, parts list, service intervals
Can the treadmill be integrated with a harness frame or overhead support?
This is the single question that most often rules a supplier out. A walking treadmill frame is not automatically rated for an overhead harness load, and a supplier who says “yes” without asking for the harness specification is guessing. Send the harness type, the maximum support force, and the mounting geometry, and we will confirm what the frame can take.
OEM and private label for clinic supply brands
Clinics rarely buy directly from a Chinese factory — the order usually runs through a medical equipment distributor or a clinic supply brand. For those buyers we produce under private label: your logo on the frame and console, your manual, your carton artwork, and your model naming. Frame machining, welding, console assembly, final testing and export packing all happen in our own plant, so the unit you approve as a sample is the unit that ships.
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply rehab treadmills to clinics directly?
We supply to distributors, clinic supply brands and multi-site operators. For a single clinic, the practical route is usually through a distributor in your market — tell us your region and we can say whether we already work with one there.
What is the difference between a rehab treadmill and a walking pad?
A walking pad is a low, compact belt intended for standing-desk use and light home walking. A rehab treadmill carries handrails, a rated harness provision and clinical stop controls. They are not interchangeable in a clinic.
Can the treadmill run at very low speed under a patient’s weight?
That is the specification to verify, not assume. A motor may be rated for a low minimum speed at no load and still surge under a walking load. Ask for the minimum speed at rated load.
Do you provide documentation for facility procurement?
Model specification sheets, manuals and a parts list are available. Certification documentation depends on the destination market — tell us the country and we will confirm what can be supplied for that market.
What is the lead time?
Lead time depends on whether the model is a repeat build or a new configuration, and on the order quantity. Selected models are held in U.S. warehouses for eligible domestic orders; everything else runs on a production schedule we will confirm in the quote.
